[News] 2PM Reaches Number One on Japan’s Weekly Oricon Chart

2PM’s Japanese single “Winter Games” has ascended to the top on the weekly Oricon and Tower Records charts.

The single, which was released on October 16, is 2PM’s seventh Japanese single. “Winter Games” rose to the number one spot on the Oricon real time and daily charts as soon as it was released. Moreover, the single also filled the number one spot for the Oricon weekly chart on October 23 proving once again the popularity of the beastly idol group.

More attention is being focused on this accomplishment because it is the first time in nine months a K-Pop singer has filled the number one spot on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

Before the single went on sale, a special register was set up for customers purchasing the 2PM “Winter Games” at the Shibuya Tower Records in order to avoid chaos. Shortly after the single went on sale, it reached the number one spots on Tower Records’ daily single sales and weekly sales.

“Winter Games” emphasizes a sense of winter and tells the story of the six men’s sadness towards love. 2PM performed the song during a fan meeting in Japan, and the reaction was explosive. The group furthered their popularity as the song ranked number one on the Japanese ring tone sales chart, Reco-Kyo Chart.

2PM expressed their thanks and stated, “We are so happy and honored to have reached the number one spot on the Oricon and Tower Records weekly charts. 2PM will work harder for all the love we’ve received. Thank you very much.”

Meanwhile, 2PM continues their individual activities in Korea. They will be departing for Germany to perform at the “Lee Mija Guten Tag Lady Dong Baek,” a concert aimed to celebrate diplomatic relationship between Germany and Korea.
