[News] Lee Hyori-2PM, 'Sexy vs Sexy'

Lee Hyori and 2PM both released their new songs and sounded off the beginning of May-hem.

Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea" features catchy lines and direct, critical lyrics to the appearance-centric perspective on women in today's society. "Do designer bags make us shine? Should we do anything and everything for more beauty? I do not want to cry over a mirage that disappears overnight," Lee Hyori brings to attention perhaps her personal insight and development as a woman on television who has had to go through obsessing over her looks.

With black-and-white effects of her music video, Lee Hyori captured both retro and sexy in her throwback Miss Korea beauty pageant outfits.

2PM is no longer the beastly, shirt-ripping idol group. Instead of exaggerated masculinity, 2PM came back as mature, serious men who are missing their love that got away. "Come Back When You Hear This Song" is not heavy on choreography but rather focuses on detailed expression of various fine-tuned emotions present in reminiscence, nostalgia and regret.

Both 2PM and Lee Hyori made their comebacks after a long hiatus and brought a big change in their style of music and performance. In May-hem, which is expected to be a battleground of big-name artists, how they will fare remains an interesting viewing point in K-pop for the next few weeks.
